I had my 20-week anatomy ultrasound today and both technicians confirmed independently that Baby #3 is indeed Boy #2!! For the simple fact that there have been no brothers (two or more boys) in either set of our family lineage for the last two generations, I am really excited for the coming years when Russell and Baby Boy will have that bond. The tomato seeds I planted drowned in the rains of the spring and the strawberry plants had their green berries and leaves (!!) eaten by the neighbor's squirrel population. I did manage to get a net put up so we did get a few berries but what the squirrels didn't eat, mostly rotted in the soil- oops. My bad.

Besides the high cost of living, another cost comes in the more natural form- termites. California is the biggest sand pile ever created. This is a picture, taken this afternoon, of our new home. I hate ants so you might imagine what I feel about termites but after this tenting process, we will stay on top of it and spray every few years to keep them away. What that really means is that it's been one year since my waters broke and then waiting for ten hours for labor to start and feel painful and then for two hours of intense pain before Camille was born. That also means it's been one year minus one day since Russell succombed to croup. Ah, memories!

My parents came into town last Saturday, the 14th. We spent a few days north of San Fran near Santa Rosa and had an opportunity to visit the Charles M. Shultz museum. The nine-month milestone is a little special because now it means that Baby Sis has been living on this earth just as long as she was living inside of me:-) She is 16.4 lbs (10% group) and 27.5" (50% group). The ped wants her to gain more weight but with her chunky little rolls, I don't see why. It's an amusement park for younger children (3yrs-12yrs) and the 75F weather was perfect. It's been a cool spring in the Bay Area and the sun felt good for us all. She now weighs 8 lbs 15oz and measures 20.5 inches and is 50% percentile in size. She's really a lovely baby. True to form, with the cool days and cold winds, his cold turn very quickly into croup (we'd seen the ped that afternoon and she said he was fine). Dan ended up taking Russell to the ER since it was the worst case of croup he's had so far.
